GRuB (Garden-Raised Bounty) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working at the intersection of food, education, and health systems to grow healthy food, people, and communities. Each year, GRuB directly engages approximately 1500 Thurston County residents of all ages in relationships-based programming around growing & preparing good food. We primarily work with marginalized young people with low incomes and/or behavioral and disciplinary indicators of high ACE (Adverse Childhood Experience) scores, families with low incomes, students, seniors experiencing hunger, tribal communities, and veterans. GRuB works to ensure everyone in our community has access to fresh, healthy food. GRuB’s powerful youth & community development programs have directly benefitted folks in Thurston County for years. Food justice is GRuB’s vehicle for deep community work with a variety of people, from youth who’ve had to grow up fast to veterans struggling with disabilities to families living in the “war-zone of poverty” as well as a wide variety of volunteers, donors & partners. |
