We are happy to announce "Keep the Change" at the Olympia Farmers Market.
You can now donate change (or more!) at several of the Olympia Farmers Market Vendors. Everything that you donate goes directly to South of the Sound Community Farm Land Trust to support farmland preservation in Thurston, Mason, Lewis and Grays Harbor counties.
So hustle down to the market to grab your veggies, gifts, fruit, plants, proteins, baked goods, art and more - every purchase supports the vendor, the market and now can help preserve local farmland. It doesn't get much easier than that!

WHY? You might be asking yourself why you should donate your change to this cause. . .
South of the Sound Community Farm Land Trust works to preserve Farm Land (and its water rights) so that it will remain in farming for future generations. With your help we protect land and make it affordable to beginning farmers.
You can read more about our work with the Scatter Creek Farm, Garden Raised Bounty (GRuB) and Oyster Bay Farm.
- Since 1950 over 75% of Thurston County Farm Land has been lost to development.
- Between 2002 to 2007 we lost nearly 50% of our remaining working farmland.
- Even when large parcels of prime farmland are not subdivided for development, they are still at risk of losing their water rights if they are not farmed. Once water rights are extinguished due to non-use, the ability of the land to grow most food crops is lost forever.
- The average age of Washington Farmers is 59. As more farmers near retirement more land is at risk.
